After a tumultous two years, it seems that Tyrese Gibson may have found his footing. The Fast and Furious star is in talks to join the Spider-Man spin-off led by Jared Leto called Morbius. Gibson has begun negotiations to play the role of an FBI agent in the film. If(when) Gibson comes to a deal with Sony, he would join Leto,  Matt Smith, Adria Arjona and Jared Harris as the next major cast member. Behind the lens, Safe House director Daniel Espinosa will helm the film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will center around “Dr. Michael Morbius, a scientist who suffered from a rare blood disease and attempted to cure himself to disastrous results.” The report later states, “Instead of being cured, he became afflicted with a condition that was a form of vampirism, hitting him with the thirst for blood, along with fangs and super strength.”

For the uninitiated, Morbius is a Biochemical Scientist with an incredibly rare blood disease. In an attempt to cure himself, he spliced his DNA with that of Vampire Bat and mutated into an anti-hero in Spiderman’s rogue’s gallery. Weirdly enough,Morbius has appeared multiple times to help and even save Spider-Man.

The movie, whose full title is, Morbius: The Living Vamire, is set to release worldwide, July 31, 2020.
