After drowning in unjust legal issues, Meek Mill has been championed all across social media, but now the Philly rapper-turned-social activist is being honoured in his home town with ‘Meek Mill Weekend’ by Philadelphia City Council. WPVI News reports the council celebrated the rapper’s “contributions as an artist and a criminal justice reform advocate,”. The celebratory weekend has been announced to span from March 15 to March 17.
At the ceremony, Meek thanked the city of Philadelphia, his family, and Roc Nation after being presented with the honour. With his focus shifting towards activism, “I wanted to do something where I felt important enough to give people like me coming up a fair shot in life.”
