Reported by Deadline, Marvel Studios has hired Destin Daniel Cretton to direct “Shang-Chi,” marking the first Asian superhero movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Cretton’s hiring may have to deal with her strong relationship with Captain Marvel, aka Brie Larson. Currently, Destin Daniel Cretton is filming “Just Mercy,” starring the aforementioned Brie Larson and Michael B. Jordan. Dave Callaham is writing the script that will ultimately modernize the Shang-Chi story and character arc.
