Prior to their April 12th release, DC releases the last big trailer of their first film of 2019, Shazam. Armed with a soft batman cameo (you’ll get it when you watch the trailer), the trailer takes on a light-hearted, tone that has yet to be seen
The 1019 film follows Billy Batson as a streetwise 14-year-old who can magically transform into the adult superhero Shazam simply by shouting out one word. His newfound powers soon get put to the test when he squares off against the evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.
The trailer provides insight into what we can expect from director David F. Sandberg’s interpretation of the classic comic book character.
Starring Zachary Levi (Thor: Dark World) as Shazam, Asher Angel (Andi Mack) as Billy Batson, and Mark Strong (The Imitation Game) as big bad Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, Shazam marks another notable departure in tone for DC movies, as the DC Extended Universe tries to find its footing after Justice League. The lighthearted, goofy Shazam follows the mega-fantastical Aquaman and will be followed in October by an ’80s-gangster take on the Joker.
