After many were disappointed about the trailer from Brazil Comic Con back in December when there was no online version to be found, Sony and Marvel FINALLY delivered the trailer(s) for this Summer’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. As per usual, we here at Nerdy Scoop have spent the last 24 hours on the 2-minute trailer to take in every little detail and Easter eggs that the trailer has to offer. Before we begin, here’s the North American AND International trailer to get you caught up (because in some countries, the word dickwad is inappropriate)
All caught up? Good! *POTENTIAL SPOILERS IF YOU WANT TO GO IN THE MOVIE CLEAN*
1. Pepper Potts Signature
Unless this is misdirection and might be swapped out in the final cut of the movie, that IS in fact Ms. Potts’ signature on the cheque being donated for Aunt May’s charity event. This means many things! For starters, it could mean that Tony dies in Avengers: Endgame. Or, Tony did give the company to Pepper back in Iron Man 2 although Tony can be generous and do charity donations as seen in the MIT scene during Captain America: Civil War. Then again, the donation may be in Pepper’s name to keep the Stark-Parker relationship low profile. However, take a good look at the name signed on the cheque. Pepper Potts. Not Pepper Stark, or Pepper Potts Stark. Just plain, pre-engagement in Spider-Man Homecoming, Pepper Potts.
2. Uncle Ben’s Suitcase
When Peter is packing up hit suitcase for a two-week vacation in Europe, we can’t help but notice the initials embossed on the suitcase: BFP. This obviously a nod to Benjamin Franklin Parker aka Uncle Ben. Maybe Disney might actually address and honour Uncle Ben’s death to this rendition of the web-head, given that Holland is coming close to his 5 movie contract (unless it is/was renewed).
3. Spectacular Spider Suits
Just like Spider-Man: Homecoming we will get to see the web-slinger in 3 different suits! Unlike SM:H however, we will actually get to see ALL 3 suits in action! Towards the end of the movie we might see the unofficially named ‘S.H.I.E.L.D. Suit’ which is is like the Stark Suit, except with black fabric where there would normally be blue, resembling the initial suit from Spidey’s first appearance in Amazing Fantasy 15.
The next suit, we might see towards the middle of the movie which is the ‘Stealth Suit’:
This suit has S.H.I.E.L.D. agent written all over it with night-vision goggles-esque Spidey eyes, and a S.H.I.E.L.D. crest under his right shoulder on the chest piece. This is obviously a tribute to Spider-Man Noir, who we have recently seen in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse.
2.5. Dress like how you want to be addressed
Poor Ned. If only he knew that wearing his black bear t-shirt would get him tranquilized.
3. The Walking Dead
If you have seen or heard of the leaked set pictures, this may not come as a shock to you but Maria Hill, Nick Fury and *spoiler alert* Spider-Man are all in this movie. From what I last remember, they all vanished in the final moments of Avengers: Infinity War. Does that mean the snap gets reversed, or are they all just living in an urbanized Soul World? It would explain the weird year-less dates on Peter’s passport, as maybe time isn’t considered linear in the Soul World. Maybe August 10 is when Parker’s new life starts and days and months are just reversed, making this movie a few weeks after the snap.
4. The Elementals
As known, Spider-Man will have a bunch of foes on his plate in this next instalment of the franchise, and to kick off Phase 4 of the MCU. The Elementals are known in the comics as extra-dimensional beings that have existed on Earth before Atlantis! Although we are not sure if they are the real deal like the comics, an adaption of the ‘Frightful Four’, or just an illusion created by the secret big bad, Mysterio
4.5. Amazing Spider-Man #212
Speaking of Hydroman, this scene looks like it’s going to be moments before his big screen debut. If you turn your attention to the boat in the background, you would notice that it is marked with ‘ASM 212’. This is an callback to the first time Hydroman was introduced in the comics, Amazing Spider-Man #212.
5. Ultimate Nike Fans
Even though he’s fighting a bad guy, my man Peter Parker knows he has to always look fresh, which is why is is flexing in Nike Air Max 1’s, with a good stance that minimizes creasing. This isn’t the first time Spider-Man has rocked the swooshes:
