E3 was a huge success this year, with hype building up for properties owned by Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo! This year we got to see some cool new games that are sure to keep us entertained and glued to our screens for hours at a time. For a three day event, we needed three different blogs to recap and retell everything that was unleashed at the world’s biggest gaming convention and showcase!
Today we’re going to wrap things up with the Sony E3 conference, where they unleashed big trailers/news for upcoming games for their PS4. It’s no secret that this year, and in previous years, Sony has had some pretty big shoes to fill due to their schedule placement after Microsoft’s Xbox, which sets the bar high, and right before the Nintendo conference, which could potentially steamroll all over their hype. However, this year Sony unleashed some of the most visually stunning game trailers that would make a gamer say, to put it PG, “Shut up and take my money!”
I’m going to start where the show ended. Insomniac’s Spider-Man got not a trailer, but an actual, full, 7-min. cut scene (and what looked like a little bit of ‘staged’ gameplay) between Spider-Man and some of his greatest foes in the ULTIMATE prison breakout scene. Such foes include, but are not limited to: Vulture, Electro, Lizard, and Rhino! The graphics and action look amazing, capable of putting anyone in a trance. The purpose of E3 is to make people want to play the games, and Sony hit it home with this extended look at Spider-Man. Available for PS4 September 7th 2018.
2. The Last of Us Part II
The post-apocalyptic action game is getting an inevitable part 2. Sony dropped at 12-min. gameplay trailer that gave us chills and played with all of our emotions. Starting off with The Last of Us main Ellie, in what was a soft, tender and dramatic scene quickly switched up in brutal, gross, murder fest! The graphics look much better than the first one, as well as the combat action! There has been no word on a release date, but I’m putting some money aside for January 2019!
3. Resident Evil 2 Remastered
After making the announcement 3 years ago, we finally got a trailer (thank you Capcom) as well as a release date. The first Resident Evil 2 was releases in 1998, so there was a lot of work to be done with in in terms of ‘modernizing’ the graphics and action sequences. From the looks of it, it was well worth the wait! Unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait a bit longer, as the release date is scheduled for January 25th 2019.
4. Trovor Saves the Universe
Rick and Morty‘s Trevor Roiland is behind this game, that looks like it’s going to be a fun time! There’s not much we know about it yet, especially in terms of an exact release date (early 2019) but we do now Trover is on a mission to save the universe, and by the looks of the character we got in a 54 second teaser, he’s going to need A LOT of help.
5. Ghost of Tsushima
This game was on everyone’s radar. Ghost of Tsushima is an open-world samurai game set in feudal Japan. The 8 minute gameplay trailer showing a lone samurai vs the world gave off a Witcher vibe, and there is no complaints there! The graphics are also insanely realistic, especially when it comes to the environment. The combat and stealth game has no official release day, yet.
Déraciné translates to “uprooted or displaced from one’s geographical or social environment.” Honestly, this game looks creepy af. And to top it all off, it’s a PSVR game! Just imagine your looking out the window, then you turn around and some old guy with a distorted face is just standing there with a teapot! It is said that this game is a ‘big departure’ from PSVR’s other games. We have no idea what that means, but it gets us excited!
What announcement are you excited for? What game did we not give the attention it deserves? Let us know in the comments!
