Disney to part with $150 million in content licensing revenue in 2019 fiscal year to prepare themselves for the launch of Disney Plus.
During Disney’s quarterly earnings conference call on Tuesday, Disney CEO Bob Iger and CFO Christine McCarthy offered a few details of Disney’s plan to launch a global streaming service by year’s end. McCarthy noted that Captain Marvel theatrical release will be the first Disney movie title that will be released exclusively on Disney Plus.
Iger assured the shareholders that Disney Plus will do wonders for their financial state because of ESPN Plus’ growth in the past five months.
The streaming service is set to launch at the end of this year, Disney will be removing all their movies from other streaming sites before the launch.
